Your Questions and Answers - MonaLisa Touch®

FAQs

  • Who is MonaLisa Touch® for?

MonaLisa Touch® is suitable for women wishing to prevent or treat symptoms which can occur due to decreasing levels of oestrogen. Many women experience vaginal dryness in menopause, pregnancy or after cancer treatment. The most common symptoms include vaginal atrophy, vaginal laxity, vaginal burning, mild bladder weakness or pain during sex. MonaLisa Touch® is an ideal treatment for those who are looking for a hormone-free, long-term, non-invasive procedure.

  • How is the recovery?

Most women report mild, localised discomfort following the vaginal laser treatment and during the first few days after the session. It can take one to three days for women to resume their normal routine. During the healing period, it may be recommended to avoid lifting weights, physical exercise or taking a bath. Your doctor will give you specific indications for a speedy recovery.

  • How many treatments are required?

A minimum of three treatments is required, four to six weeks apart, followed by an annual maintenance treatment. It will be up to your doctor, after careful examination, to evaluate and recommend the best treatment plan for you.

  • How long do the effects of the treatment last?

The MonaLisa Touch® treatment provides results for common symptoms such as vaginal dryness and vaginal itchiness, even after the first treatment. Results improve over subsequent months and after three treatments, your doctor will recommend an annual maintenance treatment.

  • Is MonaLisa Touch® painful?

MonaLisa Touch® is virtually pain free – usually no anesthesia is required. The sensation is similar to a light vibration and is also hormone free and surgery free.

  • How much does MonaLisa Touch® cost?

The MonaLisa Touch® treatment cost in the UK varies depending on the hospital, but the average cost is £500-£700 per treatment. Depending on your personal circumstances, some private insurers may reimburse you for the treatment, but this is on a case-by-case basis and would need to be discussed with your insurance provider.

  • How soon can I resume sexual activity?

It is usually recommended to have three to four days of rest before resuming regular sexual activity. Following the MonaLisa Touch® treatment, your doctor will give you more specific guidance.

  • What type of results can I expect?
